a 1989 bronco with a 5.8 and now has factory 3.55 gears front and back,,, i bought 35" tires and want to know the best ratio i can go with the gearing,,,truck is used for highway and offroad so i dont want to get killed on gas and repairs
I have the 4:10's in my 88. I really like the swap and I only have 31 inch tires. It just gave me all around better pickup and really helps you climb the hills.
I am running 4.10 on my 88 with a 5.8 and 33's. I had 3.55's before and I can really feel the difference. I am planning to go with 35's and I am now wishing that I had gone with 4.56. If gas is a concern, I think you will be happy with the 4.10's.
Stock 31" tires and 3.55 gears = 35" tires and 4.10 gears. Go to 4.56 if you want lower gearing than stock (May hurt gas on the highway). And Yes it does make a big Difference in power. Your gas milage will even improve if you don't drive real fast(As opposed to 3.55/35" combination not stock)
