exhaust

Today i installed my 4 inch exhaust i just straight piped it and now im hearing a whistleing noise is that just the turbo that i hear is it something else and also i've always heard it nots good to straight pipe a gas engine so im thinking a diesel is different cause so many ppl do it just don't want a expensive repair bill thats all

Feeeeeew, I kept waiting for a period in that post. Let me take a deep breath now first...

Straight piping is not bad for a diesel because the turbo already provides enough backpressure for the engine. It does move the power up slightly in the power band though.

Yeah what Johnsdiesel said, and the whistling you hear is your turbo thanking you for setting it free.

Modding your exhaust is one of the best mods you can do to your ride. You will see lower egt's.

Ok Thanks, Ive heard one of these is a must if you do any mods. Would it go before the turbo, so you dont blow it up?

It should be mounted pre-turbo because the purpose is to protect the engine, not the turbo. If you have turbo problems from heat then that means you've already had engine damage. The best place to mount it is in the exhaust manifold.
