Underhood blanket?

Just had a quick question about my new, 5/11/04 build 250SD powerstroke crew cab Lariat. I was wanting to know if if it was supposed to have an underhood blanket (insulation) ? Mine does not,, but I have seen some that do. Thanks for any information you may share.

I think it may depend on the trim level

Mine is the Lariat. That is what I have seen the other ones on. Seems like the insulation should be standard on it especially with a diesel.

I have an 04 (04-28-04 bld) Lariat 6.0 PSD with all options except dual generators and spoke with dealer and investigated on this site. They did away with underhood blanket. Acutually not in whole but it depends on builder ID #. They also did away with the glove light, and front door ajar lights, you know when you open the door, those red deflector lights. I had a F-350 dually, v-10, XLT and it had the underhood blanket, glove light and red reflector door lights.........

my 1/21/04 was missing the hood blanket as well. seems that Ford was doing away with some parts as some 04's have them and some didn't,, I mentioned it to my dealer and they gave me one at no cost,,,

I think Ford has eliminated the skirts in the wheel wells too for model year '05. Saw my first '05 on a local lot the other day...I know it's only plastic, but the absence of those skirts really cheapens the overall effect! Does anyone know why Ford did that, and if I order an '05 is it an option?

Big Dually I can't find any info on those but I believe they were deleted as a cost saving measure.
dieseldriver it does look like they got rid of the shields from in the rear wheel wells.
I hope we dont start having a whole bunch of tail light wiring problems etc because of it

Must be one of the ways Ford is "holding the line" on prices... same truck, same general price, fewer parts.

Well Homer it's either they leave parts off or they cut our flat rate repair times some more.
Oh wait....they did that too
