Hello, all! This has been an excellent forum for info on my 87 BII. I have done some minor work with overhauled fuel injectors, fuel & air filters, spark plugs, O2 valve, etc but recently my beloved BII has been running rotten after a very smooth stretch. At a steady speed, usually around 35-40mph the RPMs will drop from 1900-2000rpm to below 500 rpm, cough, hesitate, then recover when the engine is warm.
I pulled codes on the first test today: 14 KOEO, and 32 from continuous memory. I have seen a lot of related info without anyone else having the same codes.
Does Mr. Shorty or anyone else have any good advice? My trusty BII has been from Phoenix to Alaska and back. I like to take care of her.
14 indicates an erratic ignition pickup. I would have expected this one to be a continuous memory code; I didn't think that the computer could test the ignition pickup without the engine running. If it really is a KOEO code, then check the power supply to the ignition module -- maybe even test the ignition module itself. I believe Ken00 has posted instructions for testing the TFI module in the tech info post at the top of the BII forum.
A code 32 is an EGR code. Since it's a CM code, I wouldn't worry about it until you've got a pass code for the KOEO test and run the KOER test.
