Turning off DRL?

I put the Ford DRL kit in my 01 S'Crew a while back, is there anyway I could install a switch to turn the DRL off for stopping at a security check point?

If its the factory switch like in mine...I just turn my switch to the OFF "O" position. then nothing is on unless I want them to be.

DRL are designed to be on when the head light switch is off, so that idea wont work. However maybe you can turn your parking lights on, and that may cause teh DRL to shut down. I don't have them, so I cant test this idea. LOL

They are on when the ignition switch is on, and the head light switch is in off or park mode. I need to break a wire at the DRL relay module, but don't know which one to break.

Do they not shut off if you put the e-brake on?

Aftrmidnite,
see links below.

I added the 2 missing parts to enable the DRL function on my 02 F150. To disable the DRL's completley you need to pull the plug off of the RESISTOR located under the front driver's side bumper area. You probably could install a toggle switch on the 'plug side' of the resistor harness and control the DRL's function like that.
Good luck, keep us posted on your decision.

Are you in the military? I know when I was back at littlecreek they wanted us to shut our lights off when we approached.

Keep in mind that NEARLY EVERY GM MODEL OUT THERE has DRL. What are they gonna say, they can't come in?

I think so. I would maybe just put the parking brake on just a bit. Just enough to shut them off. Don't forget to take it off.
