went to the junkyard today, guy there told me i could only use a 94 and up or else the brakes and all wont match up and said it was gonna cost me around 2500 to do the swap...i love people around here

The brake mounting systems are as follows: 80-84(maybe 85) 85-93, 94-96, so long as you swap to calipers that match the knuckles(not like new ones are expensive any how), you're going to be just fine.

thats kinda what i figured as long as i matched everything, but everyones out to make money so.... thanks for all the help guys

went to another place today and he told me its gonna cost 1700 in parts to do....theres an 89 F150 4x4 in the paper for 600, i think im gonna check that out

Everyone told me i'd have issues with calipers since i was putting an '80 axle under an '85, but they were identical and everything hooked right up.

The change in caliper mounting must have been mid year 85, or 86 then. Or, did you swap calipers with the front end?

No, i used the '85 calipers on the '80 axle, then one of the '85's blew and i replaced it with an '80. so at least part of 85 matches the earlier axles.
