Picked up my 2004 Grey FX4 SCREW last night. All my other trucks had mud flaps and I noticed none of the trucks on the lot (including mine) had mud flaps.
Maybe just a dealership choice? Anybody have any aftermarket suggestions? I am sure I can buy them from Ford also? Hate to ding up the paint already!
I just bought my yellow SCAB last week. I was anxious to get a set on the truck. I bought mine thru the dealership for $69. The good thing is that they use the existing holes that are already there. I would hate to drill into metal. I haven't installed them yet so I can't say if the holes lined up as they should.
I had the dealership install them on my trucky approx. 2 weeks ago. They keep it a lot cleaner and help with rock chips from the 18 wheels. although I think they seem a little bit cheap and would not hold up under much pressure.
I have the Husky model mud flaps. They look okay and fit well.
part #'s
front w/o flares #56601
rear w/o flares #57601
I paid about $50 for all 4 and they were easy to mount. No gaps. Limited lifetime warranty. No Ford logo. 4-1/8th inch holes needed to be drilled for the install.
I was also thinking mud flaps for the 04 Lariat, but the Ford Flaps are butt ugly and look like no effort was put into them as far matching the curves of the truck. The Husky's look ten times better seeing them on Easter's truck compared to Fire's in his galley. Cheaper too...
The thing is neither truck has the wheel well molding that my Lariat has.
Thanks Tom, sounds good. As long as you seal and waterproof any holes you drill it shouldn't be a rust problem. Being in the marine biz I would recommend 3M 5200 around any hole in raw steel.
The Ford flaps don't fit worth a crap.Yes, for the most part the holes line up but the flaps do not hang verticle.I had to move them out at least 1/2 in. on the rears to have them parallel to the tires.Plus heaven forbid you damage one you have to buy a set of four, as thats how Ford sells them. The fronts fit the same but are more difficult to align properly so I live with it.The running boards hide the poor fit.My 2 cents worth!!!

It is amazing how they do business. I have seen people break a little part of their "factory" vinyl tonneau cover and they couldn't get a replacement part. That would tick me off if I had to buy a new $400 cover just because a $.02 lousy part broke.

i agree. the back stick out like dumbo's ears if you mount them using the existing holes and they didn't sit flush with the wheel well molding. i had to pull mine in on the bottom and drill some new holes to make them fit. i didn't have a problem with the front, went on without a problem, flush and level and didn't even have to take off the tire. i don't think they are worth what ford is charging. I say go aftermarket, at least they're cheaper.
I bought the Ford molded guards for the rear, don't fit the front because of runing boards. I painted the rear flaps to match the lower 2 tone Arizona beige. They fit great over the fender moldings and look great. Will probably have to buy the Husky's for the front, looks like they fit trucks with running boards.
