I am looking at some new tires for my truck. 2000 F-250 CC 4x4 PSD. The question I have is, would tires rated for 2470lb max be ok? I do not tow or haul anything other than A#@ with my truck? I know this may be a stupid question so have your fun with it.
Thanks guys and gals.
2470 lbs X 2 = 4940 lbs. That's quite a bit less than your 6800 lb rear axle weight rating. If you keep that in mind when loading things into the back of your truck, you should be fine.
I almost flipped my Excursion yesterday when the front tire came apart. Yes they were Firestones but I was told by Firestone that the reason the tires were coming apart was because the truck was to heavy. Yes it is an Excursion but the front should be about the same weight as a truck??? Any way when the tire came apart the truck shot sideways and there was no catching it, I was sliding down the interstate at 70 MPH sideways and on 2 wheels!!!!
Get the E rated tires for a few bucks more and be safe.
