I know, I know, this topic has been beat to death, I did a search and read about one hundred threads and felt dumber than when I started. I just want to know what is the easiest step to improve the beast breathing. All the post turbo, post CAT (I don't even know what a CAT is in this case but I hate them) and discussions on effect on back pressure and back pressure sensors and variable turbo blades made my head spin. I want something I can take to someone and say "here, put this on" and get a good improvment in performance.
Banks has the reputation that will go over pretty good at most dealerships. Bully Dog does not have the R&D behind thier product, IMO. Stainless is always a good choice, but higher $. $800 or so installed. I would keep your Catillitic converter on. At some point everybody is going to have to undergo inspections. If you take it off and loose it, it won't be cheep to replace. Go with a turbo back, keep the cat on. Stainless if you can swing it. I have done this to my old 01 7.3 and my fathers 02. They sound great, EGT temp goes down. They are larger than stock but there is still room for the spair tire.

Magnaflow and Banks both use the same size downpipe (3.5") and 4" pipe after that. I chose the Magnaflow because of their dyno numbers but was disappointed that their system was a total catalytic convertor delete with no option to add it in without having to take it to a muffler shop to get it added. It has a nice whistle at idle and a good growl on acceleration. I chose the 3.5" downpipe because of the backpressure issue and I've had NO problems except for the predator and my heavy right foot
unfortunately I got mine before they offered these...
I got a generic aluminized turbo back that I've had excellent service from...
strong sound without being loud WITH the cat and enough turbo whistle to be stout !
If you are in the winter SALT belt I would suggest a stainless system thet will last longer....
