Hi, I am wondering if anyone else is having problems towing with the new 6.0
I have the 2003 F350 King Ranch LWB 4X4. The truck does fine driving around town, but EVERY time I hook our 33' 5th wheel (10,000 lbs) the truck has a problem, we bought the truck to travel full time and it has been so fustrating we have been un-able,it goes to the shop every time we pull the trailer, we too have had the EGR valve replaced. when it felt like the transmission was going to fall out the bottom when stopping at a light.( but that did NOT fix the problem...)
with the tow button engaged the truck is sluggish upon take off from a light etc., as well when it get's to second gear, you have to let of the gas to shift, same thing when slowing and down shifting. we have had other strange sounds as well like the Turbo is blowing apart, it just has a some sort of a problem each time. we have talked to few people camping and they too have had such problems and have been told the computer builds up a memory, so disconnect your batteries. are you kidding for what you pay for these trucks it should pull that trailer down the highway like nothing, now today my ford dealer tells me yeah Ford is aware of the problem, the just don't really know what it is.. he tells me they have agreed to discontinue the 6.0. should that make me feel better ?
There hasn't been a hill yet that I haven't been able to pull at 50+ MPH stock. With the Superchips MicroTuner, it is even better and gets better fuel mileage as well.
No problems on my truck to date and I'm at 24500 miles.
It sounds like you need a new dealer- As an early 6.0 owner (Feb 03) I can understand your frustrations. The most recent July flash took care of my tow/haul issues and my two local Ford dealers have bent over backwards to resolve any of my concerns. There are several FTE folks that can give you some very specific information and advice to help resolve your problems.
My stock truck pulls a 7,400 lb load at high altitude with plenty of power to spare... And without a load, it runs absolutely fantastic- Your's should too!
One of the real important pieces of imformation we will need is the engine build date of your truck.

I don't know who your dealer is but I would HI TAIL it away from this Bozo.
Discontinue the 6.0? Give me a break. If anyone worked for me in any dealership and was spreading that kinda bull around I'd drop kick 'em right out the door. This is a totally irresponsible statement by any stretch of the imagination.
I highly recommend you report his comment to Ford and get your truck to the nearest other Ford dealer.
Which dealership are we talking about anyway?
I sure wouldn't want to accidently show up there and get their slime all over my truck.

trying to diagnos his truck problems. He took it to another dealer just out of town, and in 4 hours the truck was perfect
. If your dealer is using anything but a diesel tech, find another dealer. Just stick with it. It will be fixed and you will realize what these trucks can really do. Best of Luck

They just keep telling us it's the computer's memory that making it shift hard, and the 2nd to 3rd gear they haven't a clue.. I have even told the rep. who keeps telling me no error reports found, to pack his _hit.. he's coming with me on a road trip w/ the trailer. I know my wife and I aren't both going crazy at the same time...
and let me understand, they are not going to discontinue the 6.0 ? he just told me that on Monday, a NEW engine is coming out...
Thanks Again for all the input..
