need some help been reading some old postings, still need a little help.
I just bought a 66 F100 someone has put a 88 model 302 with a power steering pump on the engine. has also had the steering column changed at some time to one with tilt wheel ( not a real good column ). but anyway. Is replacing the gear box to a power gear box and hook to the pump all I need to do? and what power steering gear box? any help and suggestion would be appreciated.
Many have done the conversion and there is plenty of info out there on how to do it. Searh the tech section to start. But a quick answer is no. You will need a shorter steering column to compensate for the longer pwr steering gear. I have a '65 and used a gear from a '77, they pretty much bolt in. Some will say that you need the driver side engine perch from a power steering equipped truck, but I was able to pursuade mine with a little help from a grinder in some key locations. You should be able to use your current pump, provided it works. It is a worthwhile conversion however. Good luck.

Did you have to grind much of the engine perch? Any chance it compromised the strength? I do not have time to get to the wrecking yard to find one and may try the grind method. Also, did you run headers on the truck and was there any interference with the 65/66 perch instead of the later model unit?
Thanks
Chris
