I have enjoyed reading all the valuable information on this forum. I have a 66 C.C. SWB with a tool box in the side of the bed. It has the original faded paint job of Rangoon Red and White. It had a 352 engine in it but I changed it to a 390. I added power steering and I found a power steering column with a three on the tree. Does anyone know the name of any books that would help me with my 66 Truck restoration? I am also looking for information on engine color, original jack, spare tire carrier, upholstery, fire wall grommets, map pocket rings etc. Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you. I look forward in being a part of this forum where people love these trucks as much as I do. That's why I bleed FORD BLUE.
Original color of the engine is boring old black with gold valve covers.
My jack is missing, if it ever was there.
The spare hangs under the bed behind the axle with a pretty simple arrangement you can probably get off a newer truck (likely the same parts). Some had the spare mounted in the bed vertically along one side, but that's the exception, not the rule.
Map pocket rings: you can search and search for unbroken plastic ones, or by nice billet aluminum replacements from Carolina Classics or Flashback F100s. Expensive, yes, but will last forever and the silver never comes off!
I have yet to find a good book specific to our trucks. They have only jumped in popularity in recent years.
As to the trim rings, super hard to find w/o at least cracks from overtightening of the screws. The site here is a wealth of info on these trucks....61-6 as well as all the others....its amazing.
