Sorry about posting off subject, but I thought you guys might be able to give me your thoughts on problem with my parents car.
They have a 93 Tempo. At times the car quits running, like you shut the key off. This happens at various speeds and times. But it always restarts. The fuel pump was replaced about a year ago and they told me that at its last service that the fuel filter was changed.
They took it to a local mechanic, and they said he unplugged something and it ran fine for awhile, but now the problem is back.
It has a 4cylinder, auto.
Sounds like a bad sensor to me, maybe a cam sensor or module.
I'm going down home this weekend to look at it.
What do you think it might be?
Setting off any codes? Your mechanic should have checked. If not sure.......you can have AutoZone check your codes.....free service. Good place to start, if you havent already. What did he unplug?
Im not sure what he unplugged. If there was a code, would it signal a Check Engine light? When I get down there I'll take it down to Autozone and see what they find.
These fords are notorious for issues with the mounting of the ECM in the glove box, &
this nearly drove me insane once with one. Check the harness for fraying & or loosenes
also another trouble spot could be the radiator fan control module, I have seen some
that just seem to just fall apart, when in reality the true culprit is just a cold sloder joint.
