2150 mods

im putting a reman. 2150 in my truck(351m). on bubba's 2150 page, he states that these carbs are mild performance carbs if you do some re-jetting and put in a different value power valve.
the only problem is that it takes too much trial and error to get it dialed in.
so, has anyone out there done these mods on a similar engine set up?
what were the jet numbers and power valve value that ended up working out the best? im looking for a head start and any help is much appreciated.

what are you looking to get when you are finished? i'm just looking for some get up and go from my 351m. what have you tried that hasn't worked well?
btw, where are you getting your power valves and jets?

im pretty sure CAP will have the jets, and i'll use a holley power valve as they fit perfectly.

i haven't done anything but the rebuild yet, i dont even know what number the jets are on the carb that's still in the truck.
the jets in the new carb are #59, and the power valve is im assuming a 6.5hg.

apparently these engine/carb setups were tuned for emissions but increasing the output doesnt seriously effect the emissions output.

i like the idea of a system that is designed to work together, otherwise i'd just buy the edelbrock 1406(of course once the bug gets in you you'll be buying a new intake manifold and cam kit.)

MATT,

i got a Holley 125-65 power valve which is 6.5"Hg. my stock Carb has #60 jets. i've searched all the local dealers and no one carries jets. the problem is i chipped both jets trying to get them out - so i'd rather get some new so i don't have to worry about it.

you said CAP has them, i'm unfamilair with that... what is it?

anyone else out there with a upgraded configuration for jets and power valve?

for me: 150 to 500 feet above sea level

thanks for the help in searching. ive been trying to find the same info and it looks like you beat me to it.

i live in las vegas and the altitude here is about 2200 ft.(i think)

i found a kit containing different sized jets at Summit Racing.(get a catalog)

one thing these guys arent mentioniong is changing the power valve along with the jets.

check out this address if you havent already.

yea, i found that out too, at about 1 a.m. this morning. sigh. i also found out that the stock power valve for my carb is a 6.5 Hg... the same one i bought at advanceauto. i'm just going to put the one that came in the kit and change the main jets. i had to order some from North Carolina as that is the only place i could find them... (holleyparts4sale.com/jets.php)

yea, the only thing i could find around here was holley jets. EVERYBODY has those. phew.

i had #60 jets on; i put #64 jets on - it ran MUCH better after the carb rebuild... i'm going to put #66 jets in today to see if that's too much. the end of the month i'm going to put some headers on and get dual exhaust

that should help make some getup and go go juice

holleypartsforsale.com/jets.php

scroll down to the motorcraft jets... someone suggested going up two at a time until you get too rich, then backing down. but since i had to order them, i got only 3 sets: #'s 62, 64, and 66. they are about $6 a pair. i had to call the guy to confirm the order; real nice man to work with.

heh, we're gonna know all there is to motorcraft 2150's after all of this is done.

im sure these guys are tired of answering the same questions over and over. i got a '77 2wd f150 lwb with the 351m. it's a beaut. yea, my carb sat in the spare tub for 4 days too. i didn't take any pics of it together nor did i have a decent diagram... that was a pain putting it back together after a few days of not worrying with it [1st carb rebuild]. lol.
