I've been over on the TSB site reading up on service bulletins for the 2000 Expy and came across the one listed below.
I purchased a Actron Autoscanner with code description software because of a prior problem, so after reading the code on the TSB below I went to punch in the numbers to see what the description was for the B1994 & B1998 but nothing comes up. Where do these codes come from and do I need to purchase a different scanner/reader?
Make : FORD Model : EXPEDITION Year : 2000
Service Bulletin Num : 17720 Date of Bulletin: APR 01, 2004
NHTSA Item Number: 10008225
Component: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
Summary:
AIRBAG WARNING LAMP ON WITH DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) B1994/B1998 ON VEHICLES WITHOUT SIDE AIR BAGS. *TT
"B" codes are for Body codes and most consumer type scanners wont read those. Most will only read Powertrain codes.
Those are both codes for side airbags which are built into the seats and optional.
I dont see a TSB about those codes in the Ford TSBs.
