sounds like a rod

i've got a 97f150 4x4 4.6 auto. on the highway it sounds like rod wants to come out . but in gear at a stand still with brakes lock up it wount rap at all????? need your help. thank budfans

Does it do it if you rev it up to about 2500 in park?

NO there was no rap even when with the rpm's up to 3000.On the highway next to the center wall i put it in (n) reved it up and heard it hard to pin point thank for your time! ps oil pres. is fine

OK up date. it's been a few weeks noise is still there but now at a stand still i can reave it up to 2500 and start to here it only after warmed up.this truck has 118000 miles on it.
