I was going to pull a plug on the '92 3.0 Aerostar last night to see how they looked, but my standard 13/16" plug socket is too big. Going through my deep sockets I found the 5/8" too big and the 9/16" too small. Therefore I suspect it needs a 15 mm. Am I right? If so, I'll go buy one today. Thanks.
Don't know for sure about yours. But my 88 3.0, and my 96 4.0 spark plugs were both were removed with a 5/8 plug socket, that is of course after much profanity.
Don't know why yours would be any different. But if rusted bad enough they may require a smaller size socket.

Thanks, the parts store said 5/8 and I tried it on a new plug and it worked. Turns out my 5/8 socket has more play and so fumbling in the recess of the Aerostar engine compartment, it felt too big. Got one out. With 40K on a platinum they don't look bad at all, but for some tip wear. Gap is still spec. Tip narrowed about 1/3 from its already narrow (why platinums are like this I don't know) original state. GUess I can wait to change them.
