I have been using 5W30 in my 93 Aerostar since I bought it in 97. Has anyone ran 10W30 in their Aerostar.Any problems and what part of the country do you live in? With the various Fords I have I have to keep 3 different weights of oil around. Going to 10-30 would give me 3 with 10W30 and the older one with 10W40.
Well I have a 1987 Aerostar with a 3.0 V6 and I am running 20-50w and have no problems. The only problems I have been having are the oil pressure guage fluctuating oddly. But that has been happening since I bought it back in March of this year. I live in Nueces County in Texas...
I have routinely used 10-30W for the past decade, year round in Colorado with no problems and have recently been trying the Valvoline Max Life, a 10-40W. This engine(4.0) has over 200K miles and continues to deliver 20mpg on the highway which, given our altitude factor, is remarkable for an aging engine.
I have been using 5-30 since the vehicle was new and with 187k it is still going strong. Maybe I would go with 10-40 in an extremely hot climate, but, why mess with success.
