FE knowledge tour!

All,

I am now eligible for a sabattical through my employer. This entitles me to 2 months paid time off (a reward for lasting 7 years in the high tech industry). I'm considering a motorcycle tour of the US in October.

If any of you FE gurus would like a visitor for a night or two, we can eat, drink and talk FEs and old trucks as I make my way across the country visiting friends and family. I'll probably start in early october or late September, heading Northwest from Texas at first. But, I've got a good friend in Rhode Island, so I may go clear across the country.

If you're up for a visitor, just reply with your location (City,State).

I'm reasonably clean and well behaved:-)

Allright Greg!

That sounds like one hell of a bunch of fun. Evanston, WY. Southwest corner of the state right on I80. You are welcome anytime. We could probably even manage a ride in the 511.

I'm no FE guru, but if you find yourself near Portland, OR you've got a bed for the night

I'm envious, that sounds like a blast!

If you swing by Iowa, you can stay here, just bring your tent.

Gonna drive the 446 on this journey?

Good, we picked up another eastside stay thanks to Russ.

Iowa will help to make the bridge :-)

If I do this, I will be traveling alone. The wife is a first year attorney (almost second year). Anyway, they don't get much time off. Certainly not 2 months! BTW, we don;t have any kids...just the dog.

As far as transportation. It will probably be a new motorcycle. I can't keep the truck running right long enough to get to town :-) Let's not even talk about gas mileage! I think the truck is well below the 10 MPG mark.

keep em' coming. Maybe I can patch a trip together between these, my friends and family.

You're more than welcome to stop on by my place. City of Littleton in Colorado is wonderful, grab it on your way to see Scouder! That time of the year is great to head through the canyons on a bike (whatcha ridin') and check out all the changing colors of the season . Heck, we can even go do some skiing (we love to get the Texans in the snow )

So long as the snow is not on the road I'm riding on. I don't like rain on a bike. much less ice or snow.

The bike I'm looking at currently:
http://www.yamaha-motor.com/products...a_fjr1300.aspx

It has a nice combination of Sport Bike looks and performance, but with touring comforts. I used to ride a Crotch Rocket, 2001 Yamaha R6. But, that's not good for going cross-country.
