I am pulling the 5.8 out of my ‘93 F250. I have everything disconnected except the trans bolts and motor mount bolts and ..........
......... the fuel lines. Is there a special tool to disconnect the fuel lines from the injector racks? Please, if anyone knows how to get these lines off, let me know.
I will buy the tool if necessary - Wait, I guess it IS necessary. Let me know a Service Tool number or if it is available in the aftermarket where it is available.
Go to Autozone, or any parts store, and they should have a pack of colored round plastic tools. The pack covers fuel lines AC lines for a variety of makes.
Only a few dollars.
The tuff part is after the tool disengages the spring lock, you have to pull the fitting apart. Mine where tight. By the time I took the engine out the second time, (only days later) it was easy!!!
My 90 5.8 had 2 different sizes attached to the fuel rail, so I bought the kit with both sizes. You clamp that tool around the fuel line with the lip pointed towards the fitting, from the fuel line side, then push it into the spring lock coupler and start pulling and wiggling. If they haven't been apart for a while, they're gonna be really stubborn. Might try to spray a little penetrant in there to lube up the dry o-rings.
