First Diesel ever

Just wanted to post this and say Hello and I look forward to learning all about my Brand new Diesel.
Picked it up last Thursday, it's an 04 F250xlt SC 4X4 torqueshift. 6.0L Dont' know if posting the vin# will help but please let me know.
Just looking for some "I should definitely know this about diesel trucks info"
First tank avg. 18/mpg all around, but that was me driving everywhere, backroads etc... to show off new truck.. I do a lot of highway driving so hoping truck will show me 20+ mpg I live in NewEngland so wondering how this will affect peoples comments.
