I think I saw one at Adavance Auto Parts the other day Tony.... I think it was a three gallon, the only thing is... I'm NOT TOO SURE on the diameter of it.... it was an Air bubble, if you are fimiliar with those.
What psi are you wanting Tony? Do you know those dual tank compressors that have the 2 tanks on them? If you could find one that has a bad compressor on it, would that work?
I know this may sound wierd, but if you can weld, I would suggest just making one out of 1/8" plate steel, well, thickness would depend on how much PSI you're wantin this thing to take......
Just out of curiousity, what are you wanting this for?? Is the Centurion about to get air bags?? ARe you making a portable air tank to do balloon animals for the kids? Or are you just making an on board air type of set-up.
I personally would not recommend you making one that will require higher pressure. They need to be certified. Talk about a mobile bomb!!!

Actually, as long as you are a decent welder and can fully penetrate the metal, you can actually make one that's two to three times stronger than the ones you can buy.... you just make your welds nice a big, and penetrating, then grind down the welds smooth, and you're set.... when I go to on board air, I"m gonna make an air tank to mount behind my new rear bumper.

I would have to agree with Mark on the fact that making a homemade pressure vessel would not be recommended. Yes a good welder can do a good job and produce a strong vessel but without the proper testing and even posible x-ray you are setting there with a potential time bomb. It is not worth the chance I would say.

True, I agree with you on that one....I guess I"m kinda biased though, b/c the guy that does all my welding for me (well, at least til I take my Welding Processes class) is a VERY experienced welder, and has the means to do all that testing on one. but also, on an on board air system, the tank really isn't holding that much psi.... maybe 60-70 at the most, usually with a pressure valve and retrun, so I guess it just all depends on the application.
I can weld! but I don't have a welder or a a good way to roll steel. Anyways I will be running 145 PSI and I am looking for around a three gallon tank like the bagged vehichles use. I want to mount it to the frame rail of my truck. My bags should be in by the end of the week and I forgot to order a air tank with them. With Winsteads being on Saturday I figured I could get one in KC then and get it all installed on Sunday. A five gallon tank would work also. A bagged 4X4 will be sweet!
