Question strange engine noise

Guy's, How are we all doing. I hope I'm ok, I won't know until I figure out
this noise in my truck. It only happens when I go to start it, & when I kill
it. I doesn't make any kind of noise at idle or running. It just did it today
for the first time ever. The first time I noticed it was when i went to kill
it at work, it made a deep kinda grind noise & the truck seemed as if it
shook a little harder than it normally does when you kill the engine. Then
when I started her at work (to drive up to the other shop) I could've swore
I heard a ''pop'' when I started it. I checked my oil asap it was fine.

Hey, what are you driving? We can't help you without knowing what you have.

yea i have a 01 psd, i get that knocking noise and shaking after i turn my truck off too all it is are the pistons stoping (its the power of the power stroke) but if its something worse than that im not sure, with the start up all i can think of is you had too much oil in the cylinders and when the pistons started moving it just got blown out, im not sure how too much got in, but other then that, that is all i can think of. i hope you can work it out.
