C4 Problem

C4 Problem
i have a 72 f-100 with a 89 5.0 roller motr in it. i went to pull a 16 foot trailer the other day and it was loaded but did not look like it was that haevy...well i got about 3 miles down the road and the front pump seal went out...
is this a commen problem with the weak C4 or is it hat i am geared (3:25) the problem?

Shawn, Most likely it was just looking for a place to happen. I doubt any of the things that you listed caused it. There is a lot of years use on it. Have it rebuilt and use it again.
I think if I was in your shoes I would look for a AOD and rebuild it with upgrades. Higher gas prices makes those thing more attractive.
