I bought my SD F250 CC 4x4 6.0 Auto back in July and have 4100 trouble-free miles on it. I called the dealership to get an appt for the first scheduled maintenance and was told that I just needed to drive through their "instant" oil&lube service at the dealership.
My questions is this: Does this sound right or should they have a mechanic have a look-see? Again, the truck runs fantastic - getting almost 19MPG on the highway at 70MPH (no trailer) and 16-17 in town (no trailer).
If you ask this over in the diesel area for the 6.0 .
The guys over there ,plus us here can help .They know more about the 6.0 than I do.
A word of caution about dealers maitenance techs.Find a good one!
Meet the guy who's going to work on your truck! If they won't let you run from
that dealer find another one
It is my understanding to be very wary of taking the diesel back to the dealer when running good ,because they will reflash your computer if there is a newer program available .And they can do this without your permission .
We have had alot of this .chk the 6.0 forum and read about it.
Me I'd do all my own service
unless its under warranty
Not trying to run you off of this one but the guy's over in the 6.0 section have some serious know how and are willing to share it for free. Sounds like you are getting great gas mileage. Are you using the overhead or are you doing it by hand. If that is actual mileage you should be getting over 20mpg after you are good and broke in!
Thanks for the replies. Sounds like some good advice that I will take to heart. My last vehicle was a Jeep Grand Cherokee that ran absolutly great until I started taking it to the dealership for service. Their answer to everything was to reflash the computers. I sold it because of shifting and idle problems that all cropped up after the first reflash.
