Will 69 351W heads make a difference on a 302?
Can the heads from a 1969 351 Windosr fit on the top end of a 302? I thought they where the same basic block. I was thinking that since the older heads had bigger valves would they make a big difference or should I just buy some gt-40's or aftermarket heads? I'm not really worried about aluminum because the motor is just gonna be for a cruiser. I ask cause I can get some 69 heads that where redone for 200 bucks. Thanks

Yes they will make a difference over the e7 heads.
Two options to put 351w heads on a 302:
You will need bushings/ washer kit from summit or jegs part number EDL-9680 about $40 or arp stepped studs or bolts, either will run about $90.
Some people just use the 302 bolts and hope they stay in place, your call.
I have a lightly ported set of 70 351w heads that have been ported and have a performance valve job on the stock size valves with crane springs good to .550" lift, they do have a few runs on them but are in very good shape and clean, I had them on ebay for $250 and no one would touch them. They came off a 3000lbs mustang, with a naturally aspirated 302, that ran high 11's in the 1/4 mile, according to the previous owner. I was gonna use them but ran out of interest in modifying my truck engine altogether, surely someone will be able to use them. Good luck

good heads
69,70 were the last of the 351 heads that are any good, after that the heads for 302's,351;s became the same thing.
so yes, do as above, get the head bolt washers to install them, you may want to mill em to up your compression. I;ve been looking for a sdet of 69's 70's for sometime, very hard to find now
