I saw this a few minutes before this thread was posted, and was actually coming to post a similar thread. It sure sucks. He seemed like a really cool guy, but you can only dance on that edge for so long, before you fall in. At least he passed doing what he loved.
He didn't want to wear a helmet.Let it go at that and don't knock him for living by his beliefs.
I see moto-cross riders doing stunts every day that, with or without their helmet, could kill them. I see skiers going down mountains and jumping off cliffs. I see all kinds of "extreme" sports enthusiasts doing their thing without adequate protection. I see people climb mountains without so much as a rope to catch them. If they die doing what they want to do, the way they want to do it, that's entirely their business. And who are we to criticize them for it? Yeah...I agree... one should try to take precautions, but one must also be ready for the consequenses if they don't. I'm quite sure Larry knew that one day something could happen and he'd bite the big one. He lived hard and he died hard. He lived by his own code.

Death is somewhere we all are going to - I see stunting without precautions as asking to go there sooner. I would imagine that anyone thinking about anything immediately after dying in such a way, would question their own foolishness.
That's too bad, but I can't say I'm suprised. Everytime I saw him stand up on the bike or lay down the other way I figured he had it comming sooner or later.
That is very sad news. He's one of my favourite bike builders.
Dare devil or not, he seemed like a real guy with lots of class. (I'm referring to when he "shared" the biker build off trophy with Billy Lane.)
I hope to meet him some day when my number is up.
Right on! I've lost several biker buddies over the years and seen numerous injuries. Wearing a helmet would have made NO difference in any of the cases, including my own injuries while riding. Although, a helmet did save my brain from a good scrambling once about 30 miles out in the mountains. The rest of me didn't fare as well though.
