nope...aint gonna happen. I haven't even looked into it, but I seriously doubt any 302 will just bolt up to our tranny.

I heard that it will bolt up. Our motors are just a stroked 3.8. It might be more of a challenge to get the back of the 302 to fit.

Our motors are a stroked 3.8 yes, but I don't think the transmission bost pattern or whatever matches the 302 bolt pattern.

The 3.8 (so I assume the 4.2 does too) has the same bellhousing bolt pattern as the SBF. I believe the input shaft length is different, or maybe the # of splines on the input shaft is different, or both. You'll also need to get the right flywheel/clutch combo.
From what I've read on this site about the Mazda transmissions in the 4.2's, even if you get it all to work properly the 302 torque will kill the tranny real quick anyway.

Why don't you just get an M50D out of the truck your getting the engine out of and put that in there too. If the crossmember needs to be modified, modify it, you'll have a lot better truck in the end than a 4.2 truck.

Depends if you're fond of dumping the clutch often
The 302 doesn't make a whole lot of torque in stock form, right around 300 ft-lbs, about 50 more than the 4.2 does. But who wants a stock engine

Ok, that's what it was then. See, if a 302 could just bolt right up to our tranny's...wouldn't there be a LOT more people with an F150 with a 302 on a M5OD. I've never even seen one personally although I haven't really checked.

heh, yea its funny how a 5.0L is alot bigger than our engine AND its a v8 and we still put out 205 hp compared to 165.......technology does wonders

in 20 years a v6 (if they dont have hovercrafts) will put out like 500 hp stock

No, in 20 years we will probably be running all electric vehicles due to gas prices being $321/gallon.

I'm thinking honestly, that gas vehicles will be considered 'classics' in the next 50 or so years.
