please help
I have a 1981 f150 inline 6 3 speed + reverse manual on the floor. I changed rear main seal and putting tranny bellhousing back on. I took to clutch (manual) fork out of the bellhousing and a part gell out of b.h. It is a metal ring with 2 clips on the back. It has a flat surface on the back. Does this go over the crankshaft that runs through tranny? If so , how is it attached. Does the clutch fork attach to this. If so, how? Fork does not fit over metal ring .
thanks in advance
The TO bearing clips to the fork with the smooth side to the clutch pressure plate. The input shaft of the tranny goes through it.
When you install the tranny into the bell, it's easy to knock the TO off the fork. I found with my Mustang it was easier to assemble the bell to the tranny first, then install the assembly to the block.
