Sorry about this, I had listed this earlier as a DVD problem, man my bad! Must have had a brain fart, anyway, still the question is.............Just got a used 97 F150 Lariot and am going to change the cd player as this one is inop, would like some advice on the removal of the factory cd player. Trim to remove, shortcuts, how do u get the original out? Any helpful tips or suggestion would b appreciated. Any suggestions on getting some manuals for this would also b appreciated. Thanks and have a nice day.

Thanks for the info, I'll remember that when I have to go into the dash area. This cd is the 6 disk changer and it's located behind the drivers seat below L/H window of the ext. cab. It sits in a well at floor level up against the "wall" of the cab. I was looking for info about the trim panels, rear fold down bench seat, etc. This is the 97 3 door ext cab type.
All you have to do is get a thick coat hanger and bend it so its even and put it in the one in each of the 2 holes on the front of the radio. When you do this pull on the 2 hangers on each side you might have to wiggle it alittle bit but it should work.
I also have a 97 F150 ext cab don't have the cd changer just an empty well there but I did just have to remove the trim panels to change out speakers don't know if this will help or not but here goes: first you fold both rear seats forward then under the seat bak should be two 10mm bolts that hold the seat back in place remove those and slide the seat back up to remove. Next pry open the seatbelt hanger covers one should have a torx#47 and the other a 15mm bolt remove both seatbelt hangers. Next open side window and remove two screws from latch. Next there should be three press in retaining clips (the little round plastic ones with the buttuon in the middle) remove those by pushing the button in a little the pulling the whole thing out then pry around the front of the top panel as the rest is just held in by spring clips. Now the top of the lower panel (where your cd should be) is exposed. there should be 4 press in retaining clips on top and 2 on the back of this panel and 2 phillips screws on the top of the panel remove all of these then pry out to release the spring clips. As i said this is how you get to the speaker, not sure just how the cd is mountad back there hope this helps.
