My right side is smoking and I am going to work the heads in the near future. Yesterday, my wife was behind me and she noticed perfect smoke rings coming out of my exhaust. She thought it was neat, I don't. Anything to it?
Could be your exhaust is sucking back for a second.
Take a piece of cardboard and place it against the tailpipe while it's running. If it is always being pushed out it's ok but if it gets sucked up against the pipe for a second and then pushed out, then you probably have a burnt exhaust valve on that bank.
Hmmm...this could cause her to smoke, too, huh? If my valve stem seals aren't quite tight enough, I mean. We didn't know when we rebuilt the motor in Feb that you couldn't just clean the valves up and put them back in, that they have to go back where they came and really should be ground to seat. I believe this might be the root of my problem with smoke and low hp. She runs like a champ but no get up and go. I am going to put heads on her but this may cause me to have to hurry.
