Question axle sensor

Just got home this morning from picking up an 88 bronco in Oklahoma it has an 8 inch lift and 38.5 swampers but never had axles regeared!!! The tranny appears to be an AOD, and it has a speedometer cable on back of t-case. My question is-does the sensor on the rear 8.8 axle do anything besides anti-lock brake functions???? I want to swap to another axle when I do the gear change, so if anti-lock brakes are all I will lose, I can definitely live with that!!

If the speedo is mechanical, and the AOD is manually operated, then I would say that the ABS is all the sensor is used for. On my '92 all the sensor is used for is the speedo and ABS, since my C6 is all mechanical.

38's without being re-geared. LOL. I bet that AOD's high overdrive gear doesn't see much use...

Kind of a moot issue because the overdrive gear doesnt seem to work anyway( in low range)
