Axle: "C9" (good or bad)?
Trans: "K" (good or bad)?
I do lots of highway driving & gas milage is the most important.
The things that I tow are relatively light trailers & only on occations.
any info on this is highly appricieted. thx z9jwgarza
C9 is a 3.55 limited slip in a Ford 10.25" full-float, 6250 lb GAWR. The 3.55 ratio should give you descent fuel mileage on the highway.
I dont know what trans K is. If its a 3-speed auto trans (no OD gear), it will be a C6. I think that is the only auto trans offered in that truck in that year with that engine. If it's a manual 4-speed with granny-low 1st gear, it's either a Spicer T-18, T-19, or NewProcess NP435. They are all good transmissions. Your GVWR should be about 8200-8800 lbs and your GCWR should be about 13,500 lbs, meaning you can tow a trailer weighing up to about 8000 lbs.
Your truck will be fine for what you are intending to do with it.
