'01 "X" Questions

Seriously looking to buy an '01 V10. Low miles (43K) Limited. Question's: passenger pw slow up/down. Any clues? Also, rear ac blower motor outlet hose was disconnected. I reattached it, seems to run fine. Any comments? We also pull a TT; dry wt 6k, loaded 7k. Any pullers out there? Would appreciate comments. Thanks

Welcome to the forum! Mine is a used '01 V10 Ltd, and had 53K when purchased. I can't provide any insight to the slow window, but if you're considering having it repaired, keep in mind that body shops do a lot of window-work. I would take that kind of problem to a body shop versus a dealer or general repair shop. It may something as simple as lubricating the tracks. I tow an open car trailer that totals 5,200# loaded. I'd highly recommend a weight-distributing hitch since the X has the weakest rear leaf springs of all the Ford SuperDuty models.

I also have an 01 V10 LTD. I had a simmilar problem with the drivers window, but it was covered under warranty. I think all they did was adjust the run channel. I tow a 29' travel trailer that weighs 7,500 lbs dry, probably close to 9,000 lbs loaded. I have a standard weight distribution hitch w/ a sway bar. It tows fine. I did add some Timbren rubber springs to help with the tounge weight. MIght I ask how much you paid for it?. I am thinking about selling mine (33k miles)

If you already have a towning pkg installed you should be ok-check your tires and make sure you have proper inflation for that load.

Thanks for the replies. Yes, I have a wd hitch, and pull my 25' Airstream with a Surburban. Pulls fine, but sometime I feel stressed when pulling some grades in mountains here in the east. Going to California later, and want something with with more guts. Can't afford a psd but feel OK about the V10 (less mpg, but can handle it. Can't have everything!)

rlh68050... asking price is 22.5k, but will try to get 'em down to about 20k. What about yours?

I was thinking about $25 for mine. As I wrote, mine only has 33k miles and is in perfect condition. If you can get the one you are looking at for $20k, take it!!. Sounds like a really good deal.

For the window slow up/down problem, just try lubing the rubber channel that the glass rides in. Had the same prob with my 2001 Limited V10 and just used heavy duty silicone spray lube and totally cured the problem. A friend of mine with a 2001 F250 had a similar problem and used a type of grease from NAPA for his. I believe he called it sillglide. Hope this helps.
