Seems like Iam the only one here with out a broken Tranny.....
Aerostar 3.0 XLT -89 with AL4D
410 000 Swedish Kilometres and still original Tranny!!!
Engine is never repaired.....just serviced as it should!
This is what i´ve done:
Right header is changed..
4 sets of Bilstein shocks.....
Completely renovated brakes all around......
New Cooler and Renovated alternator.
New (does´nt know the right term), ball joints and some other small things..
A/C is out and so is Right window motor..and steering pump.
Other wise it´s the best car i owned.........never lets me down, even in -27 C it starts directly no problem at all.!
only sad thing right now is the rust but everything will soon be fixed.!!!!

'93 3.0L w/automatic extended van. 132,000 miles
Purchased as program car w/ approx. 15,000 miles 1994
Oil and filter changed every 3k
Nothing major w/ engine.
Burns about a quart of oil between changes.
A/C compressor changed 2 times, 40k and 90k and went out again last summer (haven't fixed it this time)
Tranny developed tremendous thirst for fluid about 3 months ago (see previous post "Trans Fluid Mystery"
I am continuing to drive it every day as my to and from work car.
It was my wife's and our primary transportation until June of this year.
She now is the proud owner of F150 Supercrew (see below)

93 extended XLT 3.0
I bought the van at auction at 123,000 miles in October 01. It now has 153,000 on it. I had the replace the power steering pump right after I bought the van because it locked up. One of the heater hoses exploded and I replaced it as well. I had to tune the van because it had never been done. I redid the front brakes myself with new hoses, rotors, wheel bearings and pads. Stops on a dime now. The AC had been converted to R-134 before I got it but some had leaked out so I put in a can. I put new struts on the front but it needs new springs because the right front is lower than the left. The driver side power window is getting slower and slower until about half way down when it goes normal. It comes up normal as well. Sometimes the sliding door lock works with the power switch, sometimes it does not. The door ajar relay switch went bad and I replaced it. The van wears front tires out quickly because of the springs. Steering is tight though. The van has been from Michigan to North Carolina 6 times in the past year and never missed a beat. Tranny shifts as new and the engine uses no oil and does not smoke. OVerall the van has been very good to me.

We purchased an 89 extended Eddie Bauer RWD with rear air, all the power options. We bought it from a lot for $2500. Everything worked fine, looked good, but the best thing was the interior. Seems (on the previous owner) someone had broken into the van and tore up the inside pretty good with a knife. The insurance company paid for a brand new eddie bauer interior. Unbleievalbe but except for the carpet, all four captains chairs and the rear seat were replaced with brand new units!!!!
Van also had the A/c updated, new brakes, tires, etc.
I have had to replace the alternator at which time I replaced the belts.
Last week, the fuel gauge quit working and I replaced the pump/sender unit in the tank.

>125,000km recall sparetire wire assemby
I am curious to know the details of this. I took my spare off ('92 Aerostar) a couple years ago as the wire was so rusty it would eventually have fallen off. I posted a new thread on this and one person actually had the tire fall off on the highway and bounce through someones window

INLINE SIX POWER!
'95 F150 XL
300 Cubic Inches of Low RPM Truck Torque! And twin-I-beams too!
"Drive a stick young man! There'll be time for automatics when you're old and unable."

1989 aerostar, 3.0L purchased at 114K now have 148K. The entire damn time the engine has had one bad piston skirt. Was originally thought to be a bad lifter but was not. I am told these 3.0L can go for 50K or more with a bad piston Sheesh! A4ld replaced with 93 version...works great! Installed KYB's all around...FANTASTIC! Muffler replaced...It drones and sound awful but quiet now... .new tires...water pump is now talking to me, gunna try some water pump lube and readjust the belt...hope...hope...hope... I love my aerostar...wish it had a bubble top...that I have never seen!

I am on the original fuel pump,ps pump and ac has never been opened. I do need a new ac control

97 aerostar 4.0 ext 2wd purchased at 110,000 miles, no problems whatsoever until 159,000 miles. Trans problem, didnt stick around to dig further, ($$$$$) sold off as is.....89 aero 3.0 ext 2wd, purchased at 90,000 sold at 192,000. No problems, one tune up. Still running as far as I know.
1990 two-wheel drive w/ 3.0 motor. 320,000 miles -- second motor; 2 & 1/2 transmissions, no rust (yet). Three sets of brakes & shocks, but nothing else unusual except that darn sliding door. Numerous headlights and windshields from winter driving in Montana.
Long live Aero.
Bought at 75,000
Approx KMS
100,000 Front brake pads & rotors.
130,000 SS flex pipe & muffler (silencer)
171,000 Outer tie rods & wheel alignment
175,000 Front pads & Rotors & rear shoes
194.000 SS flex pipe
196,000 Alternator (whining bearing, replaced with non Ford unit)
219,000 U/joints (drive/prop shaft)
220,000 Replaced original battery
220,000 Starter motor
240,000 Alternator (replaced with AC Delco unit)
244,000 Skimmed rotors & replaced pads (front)
249,000 Replaced SS flex pipe & muffler
258,000 Replaced o2 sensor
263,000 Replaced CMP sensor & synchronizer
263,000 Exhaust flange rusted out at down-pipe.
268,000 Replaced driver side door electrical harness.
269,000 Cleaned purge control solenoid (CEL on)
280,000 Replaced starter motor (still under warranty)
287,000 Replaced leaking combination brake valve (25c 'O' seal)
295,000 Replaced Brake pads & rotors
301,000 Broke EGR tube (while changing plugs).
304,500 Current mileage & all's well.
Tires last about 60-70,000 kms . 3rd set of spark plugs, 3rd set of rotors, 3rd 02 sensor, 2nd set of plug wires, 2nd set of rear brake shoes.
Next expected large expense is exhaust flex pipe. Couple of steering joints are getting worn & shocks are about done. During it's life, CEL has been on 4 times, twice for misfire, once for purge control valve & once for CMP sensor circuit, (CMP Synchronizer).
Cant complain really!!! has NEVER let me down yet.
