i'm looking at getting a set of cooper discoverer's for the f150. they are 23$ each cheaper than the bf. goodrich's i was looking at. i was just woundering what your experiance has been w/ the cooper brand? thanks
I've never heard anything particularly bad about Coopers. I know Dad used them on his cars a bit.
I used the "Courser" traction tire by Cooper on my International until recently. It's hard to find tires for 7.50-17 split rim. No unusual problems there.
You might go to epinions.com and search for reviews on the particular tire you are looking at.
I'm currrently using Cooper Discoverer Radial STT in 30/9.50R-15 on my work Bronco. If I could figure out how to attach an image, I'd show you. They are a "lug" type tire, and work well for my application. At a glance, they look just like the Eldorado ZRT Radial LT that is my spare tire. This type of tire is pretty good in dirt, mud, snow (though not necessarily great on ice or packed snow - that takes lots of tread edges or sipes). But it's a bit noisy for highway use. At work, I run short trips, partly on gravel, partly on pavement. These tires are what I requested for this application, but I'd buy something quieter for my own highway use.
i have a set i use for summer use on my 79, and a set of lt's on our 77 work truck, that we use year round. thier a nice all around tire, give good traction on all surfaces, and wear ok. from what i've heard, thier better in snow then the BF's, but that's just what i've been told.
personally, all i run is coopers. good tires, and great prices.
I have ran Cooper Discoverer on all my trucks for the last 13 years. I drive 120 miles a day to work and back and do some off-roading during hunting season. I swear by these tires would buy nothing else.

My dad has Cooper Discoverers on his truck and in my opinion, they have quite a bit of road noise. I was thinking of buying a set until I drove his truck. Bought the BF Goodrich's Radial Long Trail T/A and couldn't be happier. Minimal road noise and improved ride. Only a few dollars more than the Coopers.
Look in my gallery, those Herucules Terra Tracs are made by Cooper. I run them in high mileage situations where I don't want to wearout very expensive offroad tires on the pavement. They are as good as in AT tire I've ran. They aren't an MT though. I normally run Buckshots because they are siped and threaded for studs.
they have a new design STT coming out....it looks interesting....it looks not as agressive as a mt but more than a AT......just what the doctor ordered for me.....i use my truck in the woods alot but on the street just as much.
