Cooper ATR

Anyone running Cooper ATR on a SC XLT 4X4? I am in need of new tires and using the stock Generals. I have 44,500 on the truck now. I am curious to hear pro and cons with the Cooper ATR as they seem reasonably priced and nice looking. I am really looking for Snow concerns!

TIA....

The guys at the shop I go to speak very highly of the ATR. They were trying to get me into a set but they don't make them for the 20" wheels.

My understanding is that they are a nice all around tire and I believe the ATR carries a 50k mile treadwear warranty

I have ATRs in 275/65/18, load range C. They are a 6 ply LT tire, not a P-metric. So im pretty sure they dont have the treadwear warranty. However, LT sizes do have deeper treads. I suggest going on Coopers website and looking at tire specs in the size you want. This will give you weight, tread depth, load range and other important info.

They were the only tires availble in my area that I could afford. At $240 per tire, I dont think they were reasonably priced. They look good and seemed to work very well in the 6 inches of snow we had recently. It was a little icy underneath and I almost got stuck turning around on a hill, though this was more of a bad decision on my part than anything else. Coopers are the most popular brand tire in my area. Every other vehicle seems to have Discoverer ATR's, M+S's, or ST's. I think you will be happy with them. Ive only had mine on for ~4000 miles, so I cant comment on treadwear.

You'll be just fine with a set of Discoverer ATR's. They are reasonably priced and offer good overall performance. They work great in the snow and got the job done when I was plowing.

They're a good choice if you don't want to spend the extra money for other tires.

I run 315/70R18 ATR's on my 2007 powerstroke and love them. My 2 front tires have a little over 40,000 on them now and running strong. With all my tools and utility bed my truck is weighing in over 11,000 lbs. I rotate every 5000 miles and they are wearing really nice. I live in Wyoming and the traction in the snow, mud and rain is outstanding. They also have a quiet ride. I will be running them on my 2005 F-150 when I can afford new tires. I also ran them on my 2003 ranger.

I am now getting a set of Hankook DynaPro ATM RF10 installed. I called for prices and availability and the Coopers were $720, plus tax. I called another shop and they do not handle Coopers, but could get a Hankook. He installed some on his fathers truck last year and said that they were great. He used it on the farm, road, etc... very nice tire, and cheap.... They are $601.17 installed, tax included out the door!!!! After his suggestions, he gave me a couple but said that I would not be disappointed with the Hankook's. Also gave me a General A/T comparable but they were back ordered till end of January... I am getting them installed next week as they are backed up busy this time of year!! Anxiously waiting to give my report of them! They look good!

Thanks for the replies, and if anyone has Hankook DynaPro ATM RF10's i would be interested in hearing their stories!

i did the hankooks about 2 1/2 months ago and love them.they have been tested in everything, except for snow, and exceeded my expectations. you made a good choice on the tires and won't be disapointed. i did a lot of research on these tires and they were highly recommended by the people on this forum

also, what size and load range did you get? $600 seems like a killer deal.

I would Run the Goodyear Wrangler Silent Armor Tires We have them on all our shop trucks and they average 80K on them They have excellent snow traction & they have a semi aggressive tread and dont have the mudder hum.

80k?! Amazing. I only have 47k on them and could not get much more. I drive extremely easy and have a lot of highway miles too. Also could never get them balanced for ~70mph. Otherwise good tires. I am looking to replace them now.

I just replaced the tires with the same stock size.. 255/70-17...

The price intrigue me along with the reviews. Price is out the door!!

Will report when I get them installed!!! Not till the 22 unfortunately!

Joe,

That's the exact tire I've been thinking of. Can you post pics and your impressions once they are mounted?

Sweet. You're not leveled are you? Just stock with later 20" wheels?

Not leveled yet, but really want to. I'll be buying shocks within the next week or so and either getting bilsteins 5100 with adjustments or between 1" daystar & 1.5 AS kit, I don't like the front to look higher than the back so I just want a little lift. And I have the 20 Navigator wheels with ford center caps.

Sorry OP for jacking your thread.
