I've got a fuel leak coming from the fuel pressure regulator. Specifically it's coming from the sending unit/sensor that sits right behind the schrader valve on the drivers side of the truck on the fuel pressure regulator which is to the right/top of the fuel filter unit. It screws into the fuel pressure regulator and has a wire coming off the back of it. It looks like this off the truck:
I've searched through lots of posts for what this is called exactly. Went to Ford dealer and the parts guy didn't know what the part really did - but they have an extra one for $55. I saw a few posts that said you could get the same International part for ~$15. The International parts guy said that only Ford sells the part, all International sells is the long block; no sensors or anything like that.
Am I talking to the wrong International guy? I'm at least 2 hours away from any International dealer so I'd have to go mail order. I'm looking for a cross reference on Ford part #E8T2-95283-A. I really don't have the $55 right now, $15 sounds much better, even with shipping. What does this part do?
Also, can you use teflon tape to seal the threads on these things?
