351 Cleveland. It's in pieces all over my garage
The best engine IMO is a "Search Engine" so I can find parts for it( I want to get started on it this summer, So I'll be a postin' down in the "C" forum!
Personally, I like the 351W, have one in my '70 Mustang. 2nd would be 289-302 since parts are very easy to find for them, and look at the performance they've gotten form the 5.0 Mustangs. 3rd would be a fully dressed flathead, finned aluminum heads, 3 2's intake, Fenton headers, my choice not for perfomance, but from a looks standpoint, the flattie is just an awesome looking engine.

I have to add that the 3.0L V6 in my wife's Aerostar runs great! It's only drawback is it is too small for most vehicles. Would be great in a Focus or Escort though! I also suspect that these new modular engines will prove to be pretty good. When it comes down to it, most Ford engines are pretty good. And while we are talking about flatheads, don't forget Ford had a nice straight six flathead from about '42 through about '52 that actually was a better truck engine than the flathead V8.
