Had my truck in 3 times now for shake/pulse on the brakes. Each time, the dealer is maching the rotors. I know very little about this, but wondering if too much machining is going to weaken the rotor or reduce the life of the rotor.
They can only machine the rotors so far before they are out of spec. I'm surprised they were able to get 3 turns out of them. I was told that today's rotors don't have a lot of extra material.
I live in Florida and I have found that rotor machining is a temporary fix. And since there is less material to dissipate the heat, it only gets worse.
The only true fix is rotor replacement, but I have found that dealers will only do this once the rotors are below spec (or if you're paying the bill).
