I am going 70 in the center lane. I notice 2 pickups entering the freeway from an on ramp. The 2nd one is a Super Duty with a big plastic tank in the bed. As I come up even with the Super, he is pulling into the center lane where I just happen to be. As I dart to the left, I turn my head to give him the evil eye. He is looking right at me. We are going 70 and we are just a couple of feet apart. I could pick him out in a police line up.
Later on I signal to turn of on a off ramp. I see a Chxxy with big tires right on my bumper on the off ramp. I slow way down and then stop at the sign. I am turning left, so is he. I figure that he will try to pass me so I punch the 4.0 sohc Ranger and I just see a little dot in the background.
I hate impatient people that are driving more than anything. I was in my company car, which is a Focus, and there was I guess a Camry or car similar to that, who seemed in a very big hurry. Now this was an older man, who looked like a businessman with the white shirt and tie. he was in front of me probably doing 60 in a 45, then an older man in a station wagon pulled out in front of him and he had to lay on the brakes, so I went into the other lane, 4 lane road, around him. He swerves around the other car and back into that lane again. I stop at a red light and he pulls up behind me. I am the first in line and the light turns green. I hesitated for not even 2 seconds and he is already beeping his horn at me. I did something that is very much unlike me, I flipped him off. So I go and we both have to get off on the same road, which has on and off ramps like and expressway has. There is another slower car in front of me, so I have to slow down, then this man gets right on my bumper like he is going to try and push me forward. The road we got on to has a 60 mph speed limit, so I got up to between 60-65 in the left lane. He is still behind me. The right lane has a whole line of cars, so he couldn't get over. I stayed right near the speed limit, and he stayed right on my bumper. He finally swerved around me and then I never saw him again, since he must've been doing 80 or more after he passed me.
It's people like this that are the reason why it is so dangerous to drive anywhere anymore. Everybody is in too big of a hurry to get somewhere. I know what it's like to be in a hurry, because I have to run service calls and have response times and time limits and cover a large area, but that does not make me drive like a madman. People that are in a hurry, and people who wait until the last second to get over, when they can clearly see a lane ends, especially in road construction and they have a huge sign and warn way before hand. That and when a lane turns into a turning lane only. Those people drive me crazy.
Sorry for the real long post, just needed to vent a little.
Jumped onto the freeway about a month ago and I had this guy riding my bumper in the Bronco. We're not even talking tailgating, this guy had to have touched my bumper at least once. So I slow down, naturally, figuring, OK, if you want to do this, either go slow with me or pass me. He finally passes me and then puts his little mazda in front of me, and slams on the brakes. The whole time he is swerving and flipping me off, looking back at me...all on the highway, when all I did was drive slow. It was one of those "eh, so what" days for me, so I didn't do anything but drive to p--- this guy off. Anyways, he keeps doing this, we speed up and he slams on his brakes. I finally put my hands in the air, and mouthed that I wasn't going to hit the brakes this time. At 65 mph he did it again and I let my 3 Ton Bronco roll, almost smashing this guy. If he didn't react as fast as he did, he was going to be a mosquito on my grill. How anyone can challenge a Bronco that I bought for 2300 bucks and am capable of repairing myself is beyond me...priceless in the city highways....hmmm, your $65,000 mercedes or my Bronco, who's going to win this one?
I had an incident a while back, coming into town there is a truck stop to the left, four lanes of traffic. This old man in an Astro comes across, and I figured, bet he won't stop, sure enough, he didn't, right about the time I get to him. Since I saw it coming, I was prepared. I hit the brakes hard enough to let the tires scream. Bet he had to clean his shorts after that. Had I not been paying attention, and expected him to be stupid, I would have actually crunched this guy. I just drive that way. expect the worst, you'll never be surprised. As for the idiots you guys have encountred, they just don't think, and are going to have a day in which they may not live to regret it.
I was turning right, and had a guy almost change lanes into me while I was in the turn lane, my squealing tires from the brakes was enough to make him get back in his lane.
I also had a school bus pull out infront of me after school one day, and I laid on the brakes, had all four tires locked up and smoking. I think everyone at school heard about that on. hehe I did call the bus company and complain about the guy.
I had a drunk indian run into me out on the reservation one time. It was hilarious. I was pulling a 25' flat bed trailer and he turned right into the trailer. I ripped his front bumper into a 90 degree angle so now it looked like he had a giant speer mounted to the front of his car. Didn't do anything to the trailer of course. Got out, he asked me if I was alright, I said yeah (and about gagged at the first whiff of his breath) and then called the cops. They picked him up a mile or two down the road.
My only problem with people on the road are the people that like to drive under the speed limit in the fast lane. Only pet peeve of mine. If you wanna lollygag your way around town, do it in a lane other than the "fast" lane, I'm comin' through!!!!
