Did you start this cause of the snowboarding thread? haha I thought about starting a wakeboarding thread too
Yeap I wakeboard, started wakeboarding cause of snowboarding, couldnt get enough haha. Me and my dad wakeboard and we started out on a big boat with a 454 .60 over, huge cam, it was a torqe monster . Any ways we couldnt jump very much and we got tired of just cruisin, we wanted some AIR. Well my dad saved up for about 4 years and had been talkin about wantin a wakeboard boat sooo bad and he finally got one . 2002 Supra SSV converted into a Supra Launch when the Hippo system was put in it. It is one BAAAAD boat and well our goal of getting air had deffenitaly been acheived Wakeboarding is a sooo much fun but just like in snowbaording is sucks when you catch an edge
I really enjoy wakeboarding. I've been doing it for the past 3 years and just bought a new boat this past winter (pic in my gallery). Only 4 or 5 months out of the year here in Ohio where the weather is warm enough though . I should move south or find some place to vacation during the colder months (withing driving distance of course).
I just started this summer which has been hard with the weather being so cold this summer. I only have a jet ski but it works just a little tough getting started.
I used to wakeboard when I was younger, back when the original Skurfer's came out. Anyone remember those? After that it was the hyperlite that came out. And that was THE board to have. And from then on it's boomed. I did it for about 10 years and gave up after twisting my knees up so much. I gave that up for a few years (starting riding dirt bikes) and decided to try snowboarding a couple years ago. So now I'm stuck on dirt bikes and snowboarding. Two more sports that aren't very forgiving on knees. For a 28 year old, my knees pop and move around (the wrong ways) like they're 80.. ha ha. It's worth it though!!
I will be trying it for the first time next week while on my house boat trip on Lake Mead. Any tips?
When you go to get up tuck yourself in as close to the board as you can and keep your arms straight, and DONT try and stand up too soon. Wait till the board plans out to stand up. You can ride along all day squated down when the board planes so dont be in a hurry. When you do get up, STAND UP STRAIGHT, I have seen alot of people that are hunched over when they get up and they have no control. Stay up straight and keep your arms bent at about 90 degrees, dont let them go straight out, remember, YOU control the board, it doesnt control you.
All in all its actually pretty dang easy to get up, just keep those things in mind. You'll have ALOT of fuuun
Hey dcordle, is that a wakesetter or a x-star?

I'm very happy with both the truck and boat. I need to get some better pictures up.
The wake is pretty good. I can't jump from one to the other yet but I'm getting close.
lol once you finally do get it you'll be like whoa that wasnt hard at all. It just takes practice, but Ill tell you this, when you do get it and you land perfectly on the other wake its the coolest feeling in the world haha
Have not done any wake boarding recently but done my share 40 years ago when we would make a board from a styrifoam dock pad and start behind the big inboards on the Georgian Bay in Ont. which produced about a 3 1/2 foot wake
and a speed of 25 to 35 mph .
Not real quick transportation but a million laughs as long as the boat did not power down and a little tricky at the narrows .

As far as the boat, we are just using a bass boat with a 75hp motor. What Board and bindings do ya'll use?
