I cannot understand the lack of communication between Ford and their Dealers. Ford is in business to sell cars and trucks, however they do not inform those of us (through their dealers and Reps) who have questions as to production problems prior to submitting orders. If I had known about these delays, then an '04 (with the rebates that the 05's don't have) would have looked much more appealing. The only drawback would have been having to "settle" for what was available through a Dealer Trade.
I do not like bothering my sales person for updates, they are busy and often times they do not even know. I wish Ford would step up to the plate and go the extra mile to improve their level of customer service both to the dealers and to us (as consumers.)

Dang reading this thread has me seriously bummed out. The idea of waiting till November has me almost second guessing this now. So far I just keep being told everything is going just fine, I know I'm behind on many of you having placed my order in Mid August, and at worst I figured it would run mid October, but with some of the trips I have planned this is a serious frustration. Guess I'll go back out and see what my local guy is hearing.

big 6.0 I couldn't agree more, its amazing in our current day of "do it now" that Ford can't have a tracking system online like UPS or FedEx, shoot me the facts and I'm okay but keep me in the dark closet and leave me clueless and I get frustrated.

My '05 just got to the rail yard waiting to be sent to the dealer. So I should have it in a few days.

My dealer has been awesome. Communication is great. If you are looking to order and are close to CA you should Call Bobby Williams at Sunrise Ford Fleet.

Well I feel better, I'm still waiting for mine to be sent for production. I spoke with the guy that monitors all this and we went over their allocation, he told me I should know this week where I stand. He confirmed there was a commodity issue with the 18" wheels, but wasn't sure it would impact my rig. Even he admitted their method of order vehicles wasn't like it used to be and made getting the customer what they wanted when they wanted it a lot harder.

During this long wait for our truck my wife and I had not seen one in person. So this past weekend we went to look at an 05 SD. When we called a local dealer and asked if they had any he said he had quite a few. He was not kidding. They must have at least 30 05 SD on their lot. Well after seeing and driving one I am not sorry I choice to wait to get an 05. I'm just sorry in my choice of dealers. It seem that this dealer gets quite an allotment from Ford. It was tempting to say the heck with my deposit and get one right then but they did'nt have exactly what I had ordered but close. If anyone is in the So. Cal area and they just can't wait to order a truck check out Galpin Ford. They have a lot of F250's in all different trim and a few F350 DRW. Just not too many F350 4X4 Larits SRW.

Galpin is supposed to be one of the biggest ford dealers in the coutry. Who did you order from?

Bobby has a HUGE allotment of SDs... so his orders may go smoother then most... They are in Fontana (Ontario area)...

I ordered a 250 cc 4x4 6.0 on aug 20 and was told today that it is scheduled to be built sept 6. I guess I got lucky on such a quick build date.

I went local and ordered through Simi Valley Ford. Thought I would keep the tax money in town.

Question King Ranch on order ?

I would really enjoy knowing the truth about this order delay situation. I placed an order for a King Ranch F-250, crew cab, short bed on August 3rd....as of today's call to the dealer, I STILL don't have any build date ??! He added that many other truck orders did go through, tho none were KR's ....so maybe that's the hold-up ? He had absolutely no explanation. I also phoned the Ford customer relations and was totally unimpressed....she kept repeating that the only thing she could offer was to read the Ford website or ask my dealer . Has anyone else found the KR's to be the primary hang up....or is it politics that get's some areas/models bumped up ?

We still don't have a date from our Aug. 9 order, though we'll check tomorrow after the dealers get their Thursday allocations. According to our dealer, politics are involved in a certain sense, meaning some dealers are able to get priority over other dealers.

I saw today on a website oriented to fleet purchasers for all makes that Ford has "suspended" production on the 18" wheels for the F250 Lariats until 12/31/04. That's perhaps the most frightening thing I've seen yet.

And to top it off, another local dealer has an '05 KR CC short bed 4x4 6.0 sitting on his lot while we wait for our Lariat version of the same truck. It not only makes me wish we'd sprung for the Lariat but that we had just bought one off the lot instead of ordering.

Yeah - some dealers orders will go faster because of their allocation. A dealer that sells a lot of trucks is going to get a good allocation, a dealer that doesn't won't.

It's strange that "special" orders aren't treated much different that normal allocations.

My fleet guy called at lunch and said my truck should be delivered the week of 9-13. Had a build date of 8-30, ordered on 7-26. Did not even have any info on the status until the Thursday before the build date. Hope that info helps. F-250 CC, 4X4, Lariat with most every option-18"wheels, moonroof, pwr sliding rear window, tow command, upfitter and reverse aid. Good luck, Dan

Sparkchsr : I am jealous of your short order-to-build time...I'm curious to see if it's real. I placed my first order on July 8th. On July 19 they informed me my truck would arrive on August 2ond....but it didn't . Due to some " funny business" going on at that dealership, I decided I should move on and made a second order on August 3 at another dealership. Four and half weeks later, I don't even have a build date set .....this has been a discouraging process. I had wondered if it was the King Ranch....but there doesn't seem to be a pattern to the delay.
Midamrail: we , too, sold our truck when we believed our new truck was due in 2 weeks and was grateful a buyer came along. You can bet we'll never make that mistake again ! Mulelady

mulelady: I sure hope it's a real build date. I sold my 150 the same day I ordered the 250, luckily my buddy is letting me borrow his spare car. I did get my vin# when I was told of the build date.
