Mobile 0W-20?

Hi new user here and I have a question about oil. I just got an 02' XLT with a 4.6L engine. While at the store the other day I saw that Mobile has a 0W-20 oil that is supposed to be comperable to a 5w-20. Now the Mobile 1 web site says that this stuff is good but does anyone have any material from Ford about this stuff? Any other thoughts about it would be appreciated as well.

I just tried it in my 5.4 expy and it was too lite, affected mileage. I switched back to 0-30 mobil 1.

Not necessarily. I want to know if any one has a problem with the recommended oil and why not to use it.

I use synthetic because of the miles I travel (around 60k a yr), I do 10,000 between changes and 5k on the filter. Synthetics don't break down, they just get dirty and I travel way too many miles to be stopping every 4-5k to change oil.

Motorcraft is part synthetic. FWIW, my wife's '93 Camry goes about 10k between changes with the cheapest oil I can find with no problems. She drives around 36k a year. I do use Bosch oil filters because I took one apart once and compared it to a Fram. My point is that I don't think regular motor oil will break down in under 10k miles unless it is overheated.

True on vehicles without loads, I have a full house of tools in the back of my Expy and I used to tow a trailer with it. I have just stayed with the synthetic since it got me this far (334k)

334k!!! What year is your Expy? Is it a 5.4?

I'll tell ya...researching everything I can about 98 Expys (my year) is like an emotional roller-coaster - many folks have nothin' but praise, then I read about the nightmares others have had. I hope mine turns out to be a good'un. It's been kept running long enough to accumulate 101,400 miles - so it must not be too bad. I just wish I could somehow find out the repair/maintenance history on it. That might ease my mind...but then again it might make it worse
