the ac in my 98 ranger just stopped blowing. the compressor still kicks on and off but it wont blow, not even hot air, except when i am going down the road. The faster i go the harder it blows but it never blows past what feels like the lowest setting. someone please help!
Begin by checking fuses. Next, check for power at the wire that connects to the blower motor. If you've got power, suspect a failed blower motor or a bad ground. If there is no power, you will have to work your way back from the wire on the blower, looking for a loose/bad connection and possibly a failed fan speed switch. I'm assuming that no fan speed setting works, including high.
If its not the fuse, you will want to get a Haynes manual with a wiring diagram,Because not only the things that billy metioned, there is also a thing called the 'blower motor resistor assembly"but a good place to start is to check for voltage TO the fan speed control from the heater control switch(off,a/c,floor,def.)selector. if volts are going to it, see if any is coming out.
no speeds work. i also got to lookin at fuse position in my owners manual and realized my airbags are on the same one. just so happens my airbag light is on. i still havent checked the fuse. thats the next step.
i just changed my blower motor fuse and the ac started workin so its fixed
thanx for all the info guys. this forum has been a life saver to me so thanx again
