I have an 84 f-250 that I'm putting a 460 in. I already have installed danas front and rear but am having trouble finding the right motor mounts. The local parts stores have come up with some swap kits but at an ungodly price can any one help me? I know this is a popular swap
You forgot to mention how we're always friendly & nice
Why wouldn't some junkyard motormounts work? I thought they were putting the 460s in by '84?
yeah, they did, but the crossmembers are different for the SB. The best (IMHO) and easiest way is to buy L&Ls 460 mounts. The bolt directly to the 302-351W perches and keep the angles right. A little pricey, but the way to go if you don't want to deal with ghetto-fabbed driveline angles.
I think 460 perches will bolt to the back of the sb crossmember since I used 351w perches to bolt my 351w to the BB diesel frame I have. But then again, I've never seen 460 perches, and you'll still have to find 460 rubber mounts.
Ahhh, okay, so its a cross-member issue? Why not just cut the crossmember out and fab a new one? I agree it makes far more sense to use the L&L mounts but I'm just thinking what an option would be that cost next to nothing.

Ramboss = funnay
cutting the crossmember would suck. they don't like to come out. Trust me, I know
Well, I thought I had to swap the diesel crossmember for the small block one, and I cut the tops off of all the rivets. Then I found out none of those rivets would come out (they are really phreakin tight). Then after I looked at both frames (one still had the motor in it), I smacked myself b/c I saw it was just a matter of changing the perches. So I then welded the rivet tops to the frame (so they hopefully won't pop out) and got a remote oil filter kit (which also required more fittings and deep thought since it is designed to take up more space than I had). With my luck the frame will crack where I welded it..
Jeff's Bron*o Gravyard sells the SB to BB conversion mounts for $110 a pair, I don't think that's a bad price for a direct bolt on part. You don't waste any time fabbing or digging through the scrap yard. I am not saying that fabbing's not fun, but it just depends on how much time you have.
