I have the special type of luge nuts that require a special "key" to take them off and i lost my key. I have gone to advanced auto parts to see if they have it but they dont and i have been searching the internet but i cant seem to find any that are like mine. If anyone knows a good site or store to go to that has a lot of different types of lug nut keys please let me know. Thanks
Take a socket that is just barely bigger than the locking lug nut, and hammer it on so it is tight, then remove the lock. Be sure to get the socket off while the lug is still on the stud (but loose) unless you have a vise handy.
Or you can try a tire shop, they often have various keys around to get these off. If they don't, they do the socket trick with an impact wrench.
two options come to mind (1) go to a BIG 10 or GATEWAY TIRES or some other big tire place....they got lots of em....(2) get some vice grips, take a grinder and rough up the sides of the nout, and go for it with a cheater bar......has worked for me
Go to a local welding shop and have them tac on nuts on to the locking nuts then use a socket and ratchet to remove. I had to have this done once the guy did it in 5 min. and then did not want anything fo it. I gave him 20$ and told him the first round was on me.
I they are a factory lock go by the local salvage yards, preferable one that does some mechanicing, we keep all the ones we find, we run into this alot. The socket works for alot, we also keep those china tools we find just for things like this. Welding a nut on will work too, if you can get in there and grind the chrome off the face. The big tire shops have nut extractors, that are like easy outs, but they are female, same principle as the socket idea, only they are made to bite. Our set didnt come with one big enough to fit most locking lugs.
This is of course if you have one per wheel. If you by chance you have five per wheel, I would call the tire shops, if they cant do it, go with the welder.
All these will work but I had to do what Stllariet did and go to a muffler shop and have them weld another nut on top of the lock and then just remove it.
