I just went and looked over the new 05's yesterday and I noticed that the hood insulation that I have on my 03 F250 is missing. Is this something new that Ford has made an option or is this not needed for heat and sound proofing? Can it be purchased through Ford parts and added later?
I believe that Ford eleiminated hood insulation beginning with 01/04 truck builds...along with glove box light, rear wheel well skirts (inner linings) etc. an maybe a couple of other things.
My '04 (10/03 build) has all this little stuff. Some people had dealer add the hood insulation as part of the deal or ordered it and installed on their own. Think the purchase price was less than $ 100.00

Thanks for the info, I guess when I go and order my new truck I'll try to get them to add this into the price quote as I sure think it is a good thing to have.
yea, i have the rear fender linings on my 2004, but no under hood light, insulation, or glove box light. I kinda wish i had the underhood light, especially since fords website still listed it as an option that came with the decor group on the xl, even for all 2004 models. Not a really big deal i guess, just go to the boneyard and make one work myself.
My 03 has the insulation, no glove box light and no hood light. However, the wires are there with the plug in's for both lights. Strange they would go that far and just not plug the fixtures in.
My 1/21/04 build CC PSD had the rear fender liners and hood light but no hood liner or glove box light. There was a post on the 6.0 forum about this a few months back about this and apparantly some 02 or 03's use to have lights in the doors as well, now there just reflectors, I had brought it to my dealers attention as I was concerned about the heat from the diesel affecting the paint and they ordered me a hood blanket at no charge. they are about $93 if you have to buy one and will need about 9 of the fasteners to hold it up, apparently sometime in late 03 ford started to delete these items or maybe depending on the day of the week it was made as to what was not added,,
