Checking my VIN no. for my 1988 F150, 5 liter Engine on the NADA website, Tells me the Engine is H.O. I was not aware F150,s could be ordered with H.O. engines. Is this just a sales thing or is there a difference. If so, what are the specs? Thank's, Jango
Car Fax does't say anything about H O, but Nada shows the following which I'm sure is in error .
VIN: 1FTDF15N1JNA19xxx
Year: 1988
Make: Ford Truck
Model: F150 Custom/Lariat XLT/Regular Cab/
Style/Body: Unspecified
Engine: 5.0L V8 EFI HO
Country of Assembly: United States
I was just checking, because this is the first time I saw H O in a F150.
Thank's to ALL you guys for your replys - Jango
Sorry, 5.0 HOs where NOT offered in the Truck line. Also, Crown Vic Police Interceptors did NOT get the HO either. HOs where only installed in Stangs and Lincoln Mark VIIs.
Well then why does my truck say it's an HO? And why is my buddies 95 an HO as well? Why do people put the HO badge on their trucks? And why oh why do only the HO's come with a roller block (which I have) but you seem to think it's not an HO? I think some trucks come with the HO engine. Maybe it's a canadian deal fellas! lol
Is it stamped on the intake manifold? It must be something from later in the model run, when the trucks got a roller cam. I still don't think it was ever marketed as "HO" in the trucks...
^ the 5.8 HO was in '87 (maybe some before too) and had a Holley 4 barrel on it. The truck motors weren't roller until the early 90's. The blocks are supposed to be roller ready though...

Correct. The 5.0 HO in the Mustangs/Mark VII ran from 87-93.
Keep in mind that the NON-HO was ALSO in production during this time period. It was offered in Crown Vics (INCLUDING Police Interceptors) and Gran Marquis.
I am NOT certain when 5.0 Roller BLOCKS hit the truck market. Even then, these where NOT HO engines!
