Hi,
i just bought a 89 f150 with 4wd. the guy i bought it from said it needs the driveshaft bearing replaced. i see it is just 2 bolts to mount/dismount the bearing. But to do the the driveshaft needs to come out...how much of a job is that? i have doen some basic work on cars...nothing like this type job tho. any pointer/advice?
Ron
That's weird, I have and 89 F-150 and I don't have that part on mine. Do you have an extended cab? Removing the driveshaft should be about the same. You unbolt the universal joint from the rear end and slide the shaft out of the transfer case. You would have to unbolt that support bearing first of course.
yes that mite be the difference...i do have the extra cab on it. it (the bearing)is probably added support for the shaft length. ok sounds easy enough. thanks for the insight
